Could someone please tell me what the phrase "I hope you're not going to bust my chops." means? The line is used by Travis Bickle's potential boss during the interview, Travis takes too become a Yellow-cab driver. thanks in advance.

well it nis a phrase that i have heard alot over the years, I do not know it's origin, but it means, i hope u are not going to give me a hard time, Chops meant jaw bones u see, and so if you were annoyed at someone you smacked em one.

It equates to "smack in the mouth"!
