What makes a film a cult movie to me it seems they where a flop when first released and over time become a cult.

There's no strict definition of "Cult" in the movies....the best example is probably "Shawshank Redemption"...the film was only a moderate hit when it was released yet if you check on the most popular film website on the Net

you'll find it's consistantly in the top three films. I suppose the thing is it has to have a consistant fan base over a long period of time and not just a big hit which then disappears in a couple of months.
