In the first three films to be made, Storm troopers appear to have an element of humanity about them; screams of pain OB1 uses the force on them in the scene with Luke's land speeder. However, in the later films, they're actions are more droid like. So are Imperial storm troopers clones or humans?

In the books, endorsed by George Lucas, people throughout the empire joined up to be a Stormtrooper (Imperial Navy/Army etc). These weren't clones but there probably were clones working alongside them as well?
