Brilliant writing and wonderful performances from all the main performers.
And it had its wonderful moments of pathos, which were nearly always punctuated by a terrific punch line.
And Ronnie Barker is just perfect as Fletch.

Mine's 'Dad's Army'. I've seen them all so many times and I know what's coming, yet they still make me laugh. That my son and my mother find them just as funny is testament to its brilliance.
Credit where it's due, though, 'Fools and Horses' and 'Open All Hours' take a close second and third.
I'm also a big fan of 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em'. It may be dated, but the timing, stunts and slapstick are classics of which the only comparable examples have to be those of Buster Keaton.
