Help with the name of a film please?

I watched an old b&w film years ago that really gave me the creeps. From what I can remember It didn't have much of a cast, and the central theme seemed to be that this man got 'stuck' in his house. He couldn't leave it no matter what. I'm not sure if he had a dinner party and some of his guests also got 'stuck'.. I know the details here are a bit sketchy, and I can't even recall how it ended. can anyone recall this film or know it's title?

Vincent Price starred in a film called "The House On Haunted Hill" in which he played an eccentric millionaire who invites a few people to a haunted house party and offers them $10,000 dollars each if they manage to stay the night. Does that ring any bells with you ?

Thanks surreyman but it's not that one, I'm not even sure it was in English or whether it had subtitles. (I speak a couple of languages so it could even have been a foreign film I watched).

Uncle John you are a hero ...... Thanks v. much. That's the one I've been looking for. I thought it might have been a french film because I lived there for a while, so I've been trawling all the french movie sites for the past 3 days!!!!
