Is any one else saddened at the early death of Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin? I have just read the news and chill went down my spine. I liked his programme because of his good sense of fun and the way he brought awareness to looking after animals. I wish his family all the best especially his young children.

He was wacky,on the wild side, but i loved him,i'm having a real hard time getting my head round this one, just cant accept or believe it,and yep i cried when i heard, unreal,he WAS invincible to millions!!??
When I heard it this morning, it was one of those 'Nooooo!' moments.
You always knew he was always going to go out in a blaze of glory. His producer, who he was making the film with at the time said at least he died doing something he loved.

yea I was going to say that but didn't know how to put it in a nice way! it's so sad and ruby I agree, it was a NOOOOO moment too! I still don't understand it though.. it's just so wrong. x
Unfortunately, it wasn't a "NOOOOO!" moment for me. A horrible death by accident from a nasty animal is exactly what I was expecting to happen to him eventually. The only surprise is that it was a freak accident involving a relatively safe animal rather than a dangerous killer (like a crocodile) being provoked by close encounters.

It reminds me of a documentary programme a few years ago about a man who spent his life going to watch and film volcanic eruptions. He openly said that he fully expected to be killed by a pyroclastic flow (as indeed he was). Somehow I think Steve Irwin would have wanted to go in a similarly dramatic way, albeit not so tragically early while his children are still young.
It has emerged this morning that steve was filmed whilst desperately fighting for his life frantically trying to pull out the barb that went straight through his heart. How tragic.
Just makes it all the more sad to know he was in pain and knew what was happening.
I was so sad to hear the terrible news. My boyfriend and I often watch his shows on a Sunday and he just made us laugh all the time with his crazy sense of humour and his love of the animals that most of us are so scared of.

I thought one of the snakes would get him in the end - the way he went seems unthinkable but at least he died doing what he loved
I only have and the rest are unrelated.
