Ok,we know that it couldn't all be happy ever after - the midwife definitely thinks something is wrong.Did you see her face when she looked at the baby, and when she left the room ? So what is it??
Oh,that is sad. That is exactly what happened to my friend if you remember 4getmenot.She gave birth to a boy, blissfully happy and then they told her a few hours later that it had Downs.I couldn't tell at first but now he is a few months old it is very clear - but he is such a happy placid baby.
Aw how lovely so she's had a perfectly healthy baby girl!! ............ but hang on a minute PinkFizz, you've titled this as 'what's wrong' ....... seemingly there's nothing wrong with her!
I thinks its to do with when they do blood test and XY Chromosomes. I do remember about your friend. How is she coping? I think downs are lovely caring children but I could never imagine what it would be like to find out your newborn was one.
But I didn't know she had Down's when I posted the question! She could have had some illness or growth that the midwife had spotted signs of.I agree, having Down's certainly isn't anything wrong, just a shock /surprise to the parents.
lexie obviously when a person dies at a very young age there is something wrong. Pinkfizz asked because that nurse in enders had that look on her face. Pink didnt even know it was downs before I said so dont be so picky.
Hi 4getmenot - the mum is honestly the most cheerful unphased mother I have ever seen. She wheels the pram up to the school every morning and all the children gather round to stroke his face and hands. He sleeps right through the night and never cries!
Thats lovely pink. They can be so precious just like any other child. I looked after them while on a ski trip once and fell in love. Just a shame they dont always live that long.
I wasn't be picky, I was just making a point. And please don't say things like 'Down's children are lovely as they are all caring' - that's like saying all blondes are thick! Please don't stereotype.
Oh my god that is not stereotyping, would you like to say they arent, that is the way I found them when I worked with them. Obviously they ARE different otherwise a well know soap wouldnt be making an issue out of it. If you feel that bad write to the BBC coz we obviously cant win, pink said whats wrong with baby and you have a moan, I say they are lovely and you moan again. Jeez
Dont even bother pink as we cant win. Maybe we should have said they are all annoying and lexielou might be happy. I'm sorry but my involvment with downs has been all good.
Well, I have, therefore I think Im perfectly entitled to comment. My older brother, 32, has Downs Syndrome and he can be a right old grump when he wants to be. He's always smiling and caring and cheerful and affection can sometimes be the last thing on his mind.
Calm down guys I wasn't having a go at you, or personally attacking you, I thought people were allowed to add their comments on this site.
Lexi, if you want to vent at someone for a thoughtless comment regarding this very topic, have a look at a simliar question further down (or is it up?) by rom, and see the response by babscartland, I'm disgusted people actually think that way.
You werent just adding comments to the question though. If we are all allowed to have our say and our opinion please dont put - Please dont say... As that was my opinion on downs and no-one tells me what I cant say.
