Can anyone tell me who wrote the book, Baby Doll, before Tennessee Williams wrote the screeplay. Her name was Patricia something, and I taught her daughter but cannot remember the surname.
Tennessee Williams's screenplay for the 1956 film "Baby Doll" is based on two of his one-act plays, "Twenty-seven Wagons Full of Cotton" and "The Unsatisfactory Supper".
I'm wondering if TW based his works upon a book with a different title. A search of the British Library catalogue for the title of 'Baby Doll' (with the criteria of pre-1956 and a possibly female author) only brings up Gloria Parker and W.Wasserman.
If TW did base his works on a book by someone called Patricia, I suspect that the title of the book might have been different to 'Baby Doll'.
