i love the sketch, where rick is holding a benefit gig in aid of neil and charges him 500 quid, but he has only 50p, then alexei does his dr. martin boot's song, ace....
You're deliberately trying to provoke me aren't you...
Although I must concede the early work such as the song "Dr. Marten's Boots" served its purpose.
Now let's hear no more about the matter.
my 15 year old son is absolutely obsessed with Bottom, just as we were with the Young Ones.
China Doll, that was vyvian, he had a flaw in his image though. He was a punk but had a heavy metal T-shirt on! Did this used to bug anyone else?
As Rik Mayall's 'smashing blouse' fancy piece, I am obviously going to say that he was the best thing in the Young Ones although I do like Alexei Sayle in as well.
Call me purile but the toilet humour and slap stick in Bottom is still my favourite thing to watch when I need to laugh my socks off and I even laugh at myself when I quote lines from it. I guess I don't have a very sophisticated sense of humour!
Yes, I really liked Alexei in The Young Ones. Anyone remember that excellent little sketch he did which I think was trying to ape (or skit) Monty Python?
Alexei: "Is this a cheese shop?"
Shop owner: "Er, no, Sir."
Alexei: "Ah, well. That's that sketch knackered then."
I also used to like The Comic Strip Presents. There was one called "A fist full of travellers cheques." Anyone remember that?
i loved 5 go mad in Dorset "blimey, you've got big tits for a 13 year old" said to Dawn French!
a fistfull of travellers cheques was great too.I would love to see them again. Thanks for the memories st Germain.
and dont forget filthy rich and catflap that was between the young ones & bottom.watching it again now you can see how it came from the young ones and then bottom came from it.
did you know that the cheese shop owner was also rik mayall ?
