Generally this type of fault occurs when the salt / rinse aid / detergent mix is wrong ... what is (morethan likely) happening as I cant see the machine is that too much "foam / bubbles" is being created due to wrong mix. This in turn seeps and finds its way to the base of the machine where there is a float type switch that cuts the machines operation when the base fills with water / suds.
To help you further ideally i need to know several things:
1 ... brand & style (tablet/powder) of detergent you use
2 ... what geographical area you live in (re hardness of water)
3 ... are you putting rinse aid in the machine at all ?
4 ... model number of machine ...
And I will see what I can do ...
Am away 3ish tomorrow till monday morning ...

Hi Pingu well it isnt overflowing but the other week I had the same problem.he found out it was the float. My husband emptied the water out of the base and the machine started up again. but it has stopped doing anything again. so emptied the water out to release float. but there must be a reason there must be a leak somewhere have you any ideas. Indesit D61
Ok ... following a q & a session with colleagues in the trade last night it will more than likely be one of the following ...
1: using rinse aid as well as 3/4/5 in 1 tablets causing over foaming
2: Plates not being rinsed well enough prior to washing and the debris blocking the pressure system
3: the pump / circulation motor leaking (very common)
It was also acknowledged that unfortunately the D61 is not a great quality machine in terms of build ... they see them with this type of fault alot ...
Try eliminating these faults one at a time to hopefully get to the root cause ...
Good luck ... Pingu
