I wonder if anyone can explain one of the main jokes surrounding Hans Geering (Sam Kelly)? There would be a few Nazis in aa room and they'd shout 'Heil Hitler.' Hans would yell what sounded like 'Club' after they'd finished and the audience would laugh. I was once told that the joke was that Hans started his Heil Hitler a bit later than the others so, after they had finished, he was still on 'Ler.' Is this so?

Yes, it is the case that he is saying 'tler. Some people thought he was saying "Clomp" or "Club" but once you realise it is the last syllable of Hitler, it is clear when you watch that that is the case.

The word is "Klop" (watch an episode of 'Allo 'Allo on the BBC with the Teletext subtitles turned on and you'll see it). Apparently, it's a slang phrase in some areas of German speaking nations, meaning "Ditto"
No, i think he's saying "tler"!
