I recently won some money on a TV Quiz Channel, they sent 2 of the 4 cheques I was expecting on Friday, yesterday I got a letter from them saying that they are with-holding all my winnings until my phone bill has been paid. If that's the case why send me 2 cheques and keep hold of the 2 other big cheques? (1) Can they do this and (2) Is there anything I can do about it legally?

I'm baffled - what has winning a quiz show got to do with your phone bill??

Exactly, but I rang them on Monday and faxed them my mobile bill to prove I was the bill payer and a copy of my bank statements to prove that the phone is mine and I am now just waiting on my final cheque.
