Don't give up bread completely, just eliminate it from 2 meals and switch to a whole grain (not white, that's like poison), also drink a pint of water before every meal (makes you feel full and is very good for you). If you hate veg disguise it in homemeade soups and stews and like floella says give yourself a "forgiveness" meal once a week where you eat what you fancy.
Some fruit juices can be very calorie high, so steady on a lot of those, and eventually your body will get used to eating breakfast (mine did, took 3 or 4 weeks though).
The big problem with dieting for you is that nearly everything that's "diet" is full of aspartame. You want to avoid that like the plague. Google it, it's 100% banned in our house, nothing of it ever touches our lips and it's in all sorts of things.
I've been eating healthily for 10 years now after an 8 year lapse and my weight never varies really much over 4 or 5 lbs. Excercise too, walk everywhere you can, play with your kids, doesn't have to be treadmill and boring, although I enjoy running. Never make yourself feel ill with excercise ( and it's quite possible to), just steady and manageable and you'll gently re-educate your body to things that are better for it and it'll all be quite tolerable. Good luck.
