Back in the late 70s or possibly the early 80s, the BBC broadcast a film (I think it was actually commissioned by the Beeb) about two dead Victorian children.

It was a ghost tale (probably shown at either Christmas) and the pay off was that the children had no hearts, and I think it was only at the end where you find out that they're dead (a bit like The Others).

My memory tells me it was called The Secret Hearts, but I can't find any mention of this on www.imdb.com at or around the time when I think it was mad.

Sorry for the sketchy description, but people at work think I dreamt it up (we've been talking about the scariest things we ever saw as kids).

Please prove that I'm not going round the twist...can anyone remember what it's called???

"Lost Hearts" made for TV, based on the MR James short story. It was scary.
i couldnt believe when i read this, this programme has always stuck with me, i think i was about 14, in on my own and i watched this, i always thought it was from the series Mystery and Imagination ,or something like that,. What i remember of it is that a man needed the hearts of children to keep alive himself, i remember thechildren rising up from the bath and i have never been so frightened by anything again.

I am sure you can buy this on DVD. The BBC issued a few of these 'Ghost Stories for Christmas' last year. I wish they would bring it back. I have got Lost Hearts on Video, I know that for sure.
Oh God I remember it well.
Gave me nightmares for years.Even now the thought of it gives me goosebumps.
