Has anyone seen this Vietnam war movie ? Was Jacob insane or was he suffering from the effects of drugs administered by the US Army ?

I saw it shortly after it came out on video, and, to be honest, I think it's one of those films where the viewer is left to decide for themselves. My personal take on it was that he WAS under the effects of drugs or PTSS, as the future/present scenes seemed to be too surreal for any other explanation to be likely. I shall try to hire it from the videoshop again and let you know what I think after a second viewing. Damned good film though
Last time I saw it was when it was first out at the cinema. Although - as Shybear suggests - the movie is open to personal interpretation, my take (that many people share) is that SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER he never made it out of 'Nam - most of the movie being a "dream" that he has as he dies.
What are you insinuating?
Did anyone else think this film was pathetic? Im sorry, but I'd been recommended it by a friend and watched it years ago. All I remember about it was that I was bored to death...
Disagree melv. Thought it was a fantastic film, spoiled only by his child being played by Macauley Culkin.
A friend of mine saw it at a late night show after MC got famous, and claims there was a standing ovation when the little *@#~ go it!
