Disc clean up has frozen

Could anyone please help me get the disc clean up working again? It keeps freezing. this has happened before and the excellent Ethel helped me out, but I cannot find the solution in the answer bank. She directed me last time to a mircosoft fault fix site and it worked beautifully. Many thanks, Jonathan
