Music played on X-Factor when theres a sad story

Can anyone tell me what song is played when theres anything remotely sad about the contestants on X-factor, whether it be during the initial auditions or anything sad to do with the finalists they play it. I think it's quite new, maybe Coldplay but they play a few bars of the instrumental part -I have heard it several times played on radio stations but I never hear the DJ announce the song!! Please help, I have searched everywhere!

Or it could be Coldplay 'Fix You' or 'The Scientist' they use them quite a lot.

Thanks to a colleague at work who was playing her ipod, I have discovered the answer to my own question!! It is Bedshaped by Keane from their Hopes & Fears album. Thanks for your answers though guys!!
