Christmas TV

I have just bought the Christmas Radio Times and as usual went through it highlighting what I REALLY want to watch on Christmas Day. It didn't take long at there are only 5 programmes in the entire day that I will be watching. I thought last years' telly was bad but this year is even worse. When I was growing up in the 70's and through to the early 90's Christmas was the highlight with entertaining programmes throughout the day. There was comedy, magic and always a film in the evening. I realise that with staellite and DVD's a big film is not such the event that it once was, but there is no reason for a lack of comedy or magic or a variety show in preference to soaps. Or am I just being miserable in wanting to be entertained at this time of year?
