Why Emma Bunton got the boot from Strictly

So Matt Dawson, like Darren Gough in the last series, is a surprise finalist in Strictly Come Dancing - apparently because of the improvement he's shown. However, few will argue Emma Bunton is the better dancer. I firmly believe Emma would have gone through were it not for her pro partner Darren Bennett looking so pleased with himself most of the time. It's a massive turn-off. The fact is the British public warm to modesty and reject smugness, and Darren Bennett should have learned that from seeing Colin Jackson's shock demise in a previous series. Also interesting to see that Mark Ramprakash's marital infidelity, as exposed in the tabloids last week, didn't reduce his votes - though he did look very uneasy on camera tonight. Surely Ramps has this wrapped up now. What do you reckon?

I still believe that the ones who get voted out don't - the result is decided beforehand by the producers etc. Emma's record's flagging a bit, so she needed to stay a little longer. DJ Spoony's ... well ... a DJ, and they do tend to have a certain image (right or wrong). I don't know him, but I actually thought he did pretty well that first week.

I don't know much about Mark, and don't particularly like him, but I remember Dawson in a game show where celebs had to answer questions on school subjects. He ran away with first place and everyone jokingly said what a swot was. I really do think he swotted for that because he couldn't stand to lose. I wonder whether he's going to be the same here. He seems fiercely competitive, wanting to win at all costs (natural in a sportsman, I suppose), but I wonder how far he'd go to win.

My the best man win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But my bets are on Mark. I am pleased Emma got voted off as it is a lot harder for a man to make such improvements in dancing than a woman. Not only that I thought the competion was about the one who made best progress in the weeks. Which has to be the two men. Can't wait until next saturday to see the final. Brenda

he had an affair with a younger woman when he went to Cardiff apparently, but his wife forgave him. I read that on here too.

I`m glad Emma went out. Nothing against her as a person, but she was favourite before the programme even started. I don`t see what Mark`s private life has got to do with him being a good dancer or not. It`s a private matter between him & his wife, who by the looks of how she`s supported him, has forgiven him. The only thing I believe in ANY newspaper is the date.

beejaybee, if this competition were judged strictly (pun intended) on the dancing, as of course it should be, Spoony and Ray might well be in the final instead. Sadly other factors do influence voters' decisions.

I think Matt has improved a hell of a lot over the weeks robertson but my money's on Mark and Karen. They make a great team. Karen''s choreography (sp) is excellent and Mark seems to be a born dancer. Agreeing with the other's, I dont see what Mark's private life has do with SCD. His wife has forgiven him so who are we to judge?

I've never seen Emma's appeal, I find so many of the others so much nicer to watch, who seem to really bring some character to the dance, I loved Louisa and think Mark and Karen are great too.

I've always like Lilia and her energy but Matt doesn't do it for me although he has made huge progress.

I'd love to see Brendan and Camilla with a great partner next year so they can show off more of their talents. It would be lovely to see them dance together in the special sections but don't think that's gonna happen now :(

Robertson. I agree with you there that good dancers have left. However it also shows that the voters are n`t affected by "stories" re Mark.
