Simple question this, how many men are avid viewers of that verbal dross called soap, compared to women?
I have yet to meet a bloke who will admit to being an addict of Emmerdale/ Corrie/Eastenders.
I know a man (friends husband) who goes off to the pub every night a little before 7pm and has a quick pint whilst watching his favourite soap Emmerdale. It's well known in the pub that no-one is allowed to speak whilst it is on. He's even gone and had a tour of the set.
He'd freely admit to being a big fan, not sure about the other soaps tho!!!! lol
I am a forty and was bought up on Corrie and I love it, As a Londoner I am a shamed of Eastenders as this portrays was white middle class script writers think the East End is about. Not a racialist view here but the sqaure I used to work near in East London had very few whites, everyone smiled in the summer and never had time to make friends
I've never watched Emmerdale in my life, so can't comment on it. Don't mind a bit of Corrie now and again, but can take or leave it. Hate Eastenders with a passion.
i used to watch them all, eastenders, corrie, neighbours, emmerdale, brookie etc. unfortunately its now just the same old stories with different actors
Well I suppose that answers my question.
It seems that on the whole men don't watch it, but a few do.
I occasionally watch, but only to take the weewee and annoy te kids.
Listen to a gaggle of women talking in a works canteen or shop, and sooner or later you'll hear 'did you see XYZ last night? Did you see what 123 did?' and get lots of oooohhhs etc from the ones that missed it.
i have never met a man or gone out with a man who will watch any of them (or admit it if they did)- one of my exes used to complain that it was rubbish and not real and then rave about the Simpsons? mmmm am I missing something there!
