Crows and fire

In a nearby nature reserve there was recently a fire. Large areas of the reserve are now singed black. I have noticed since then, in these burnt areas, are large numbers of crows. They have always been in the park but now they all stand around in the burnt areas only, walking around and maybe pecking. There is still large areas of non-burnt earth for them but they ignore it. Any ideas to what is attracting them to this?

In the burnt areas there will now be a distinct lack of foliage so the crows, and other birds, are better able to spot insects and seeds that either survived the fire or quickly rehabited the area.

They have suddenly discovered that they are well-camouflaged there!!! With their colour, they blend right in!

crows are very clever birds and have probably found an oppurtunity of getting some food somehow either as been said in dead insects and animals or seeds or the new vegitation as it comes through will show up brightly against the burnt ground
