lord of the rings: the cost?

does anyone hav a link to a site or kno the answer to, how much the three movies cost, or what their budget is? especially how much the main characters got paid to do the movies?

Ian McKellen (Gandalf) recieved �4,000,000 for "The Fellowship of the Ring". He recieved �5,000,000 for "The Two Towers". Again, from imdb. Sorry I couldn't find the other actors salaries, but you can imagine that Viggo Mortensen (Aragon) and Elijah Wood (Frodo) also earned around the same amount. Christopher Lee (Saruman) probably unearned less than half that, and the other Hobbits, slightly less than that. I do not think the amount of onscreen time DIRECTLY correlates to how much they earned. It's also how high their profile is. Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, and maybe Liv Tyler, have quite high recognition compared to the Hobbits and other members of the Fellowship. Hope I was of some help. as...we were tlking bout elasticity of labour and that actors are very inelastic...and suomne sed that the amount the lotr cast got for all three movies was probably around �10m so i disagreed wiv hm and i need to know wot elijah and orlando got especially as they are not very famous compared wiv lee and sir mccellan

Well the sources say Ian McKellen got �9,000,000 for just the first two movies, so that disproves that in TOTAL all they got was 10 million

viggo Mortensen gathered the other actors etc and lead the protest for more money as things had taken longer than they thought etc....so whatever they were orginally getting they got a lot more!
