someone told me that the Simpsons was the longest running tv show, I can't believe that, is it true?

The Simpsons might be the longest running animated series.It is in it's 18th season having started in 1989.I did a quck check on the Guinness website but couldn't find a listing for animated shows.
Coronation Street,Eastenders and Emmerdale have all been on air for longer than 18 years.
Guinness lists as longest running drama a programme called Guiding Light which began in June 1952.

I thought the longest running UK programmes are The Sky At Night and Corrie.

It's definitely the longest running animated series, and may have more episodes than any other weekly series I think.

I can believe more episodes but there's loads of cartoons that have been running for longer. Top Cat for one , it's on today!
