He's made a new film this year called The Red Phone in which he plays the part of a guy called Ballester. He's been pretty busy since the 1983 success of The Thorn Birds. He was Bernard Huddlestone in The Pavilion in 1999, and appeared in Too Rich: The Secret of Doris Duke in the same year. In 1997, Richard starred in All The Winters That Have Been and also in River Made to Drown In 1996, he was in The Lost Daughter, and in 1996 went back to role that made him famous in The Thorn Birds: The Missing Years.
