Various colour processes were around then and very expensive
The Beeb had a tele prog on Frieze Green and a two colour movie process which they had re=enginneered, recently
There is archive film knocking around of the 1939 N Y world's fair in colour in techni color I think with the reds very saturated (=red)
and and and Agfa was pioneering a German system so when the Fuhrer heard about it, they volunteered, as the Germans used to then, to give him a stock of it for his home movies

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) starring Errol Flyn was made in colour, as was Gone with the Wind (1939)
But apparently they had colour film much earlier than this.
