dates on windows xp

i have windows xp and would like to enter a list of consecutive dates eg, tues 13 april wed 14 april etc etc .all i get when i click and drag are these dates copied down the column not increased day by day -when i try this with numbers it works perfectly , months on their own increase ,if i put dates in as 13 april 14 april it works fine -its when i put in days and dates there is a problem -i have spent that long trying to solve this problem that it would have been quicker to have typed all entries in manually -please can anyone help me ???????

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You say you are using Windows XP but I suspect you are using something like Microsoft Excel or equivalent. To do it in excel you need to manually enter at least 2 consecutive days in adjacent cells. Now highlight the two cells and then click and drag the small square at the bottom of the highlighted range. This should work as you wish. The feature you are using on numbers and months work because they are in templates for autofill. You could do the same method and create gaps so for instance entering 1 in top cell and 3 below would give you a list of all odd numbers. You can create your own templates if there are certain items you create regularly e.g. list of branch names in a large group
