Does anyone know why the news presenters have laptops on their desks? They never actually appear to do anything with them.

because they dont want to miss any good questions in body and soul.
Possibly as autocues, or maybe to pass info on to them. I remember the old days when a hand with a bit of paper came into shot.
Or a telephone. Aren't we old :)
To unnecesarily waste licence-payers money? And why is there always 2 of them each saying 1 sentence each? Can they not string 2 sentences together? What happened to Auto cues?
