when was the last time that ralph bakshi's version was shown on tv and on what channel? i remember seeing it sometime in mid to late eighties, but an exact date would be very handy. thanks.

I can't tell you exactly when it was on TV, but it's definitely more recently than the 80s, as I have a taped copy of it, which I can only have made post 1991. Must've been BBC1 or BBC2 though, as there are no advert breaks, and at that time, I didn't have Sky/cable TV. Hope this is some help.
I agree mid 80's BBC1, the art work is awesone, some of it was done on glass, amazing I refuse to watch the new versions, stick 2 me old cartoon hope you find it if not I got a copy ;.)

yeah, i've got it on dvd. just wondering when it was last on tv as it appears not to have been shown for years. probably due to the new versions and rights issues and all that. i agree with you though, the cartoon is way better than the new films. they should've got the guy who did gollums voice in the cartoon to be in the film as his voice acting was just perfect!
Channel 4, Sun 5 Jan 1986. Also Fri 23 Dec 1988 and Sun 8 Dec 1991.
