Steve Wright in the Afternoon: does anyone like him??

I like listening to the radio but it is on automatic switchoff when it's time for Steve Wright, BBC Radio 2.

What annoys me most is when he reads letters/emails and says "Great show Steve" at the end. Do people really tell him this? the show is utter rubbish. And for him to keep saying this is to brainwash the listeners in to believing it is. Why would he need to repeat this so often otherwise. The show is crap. He passes oppinion on people and guest by saying "Yes we like him" which is judgemental and arrogant. He says "Thanks for that" to the presenter before him, how condenscending. His words of 'It's the Big Show everybody' is saying the previous show's were inferior.
And his possy too. What the hell are they there for. Jamie Lee irritates the life out of me, what qualities does she have in presenting except dispute everything and present trivial facts that are usually wrong, she's useless. And the guy I don't even know his name but what an idiot. The banter is sooo boring, these are not entertaining.. Replace these idiots with people with PERSONALITY and you may have a decent show.
I would like to know why anyone would like this show.

have to say ele this subject has come up on here many many times and i have started off a rant about this plonker many times, however i do agree with you, total to**er, i think you are refferring to Tim (the ar*e licker) and whats the Old Woman all about?????? dont get me started on ask Elvis (no disrespect to 'our Elvis on AB) i actually use to like steve wright in the afternoon in the 80's with Mr Angry etc but now he is soooooo naff and i bet he still has that god awful dead rat under his nose!
Why does he say Champeen instead of Champion? OMG i could go on and on, i tell you what - i was dreading Chris Evans having a drive time show, but gotta hold my hands up and credit where its due - he's pretty good! phew knackered now x

pheww I can't thank you enough, it felt really good to have a rant but it feels just great knowing I'm not alone on this, as everybody says "Great show Steve"..
I did once email him with my final words being "Rubbish show Steve" but he didn't read this out, or the rest of my mail.
I wish I'd been around to copy all the previous threads inc your rant to email to him & his producer, in the name of Audience feeback.
Chris Evans, I agree is very entertaining.

I can't say I've listened to him on Radio Two recently but he was brilliant on Radio 1, "Get the gesse off!" class.

That's what you get for listening to Radio 2, Steve Wright. That type of format is known as "Zoo Radio", with it's gang of people laughing at everything he says, and continually fawning over him. Zoe Ball and Chris Evans had similar shows.
