Child Chain Smoker Channel 4 last night
2 Answers
I watched this unbelievable documentary on C4 last night where an overweight 13 year old child with an ASBO was given over an hour of TV time to talk about how he has been a full time smoker since the age of 8. The mother whined about him smoking but didn't make much of an effort to stop smoking herself and her main gripe was with the fact that he stole her cigarettes.
He attended a school for children with behavioural and learning problems and was allowed to leave class when he felt like it to go and smoke in the playground.
Firstly did anyone else watch this show (I swear I'm not making this up!) and secondly do you think that this could be constituted as child abuse? In as much that the mother has done nothing and has let her (pretty ghastly) child become totally addicted to tobacco and has probably compromised his health for the future.
