What happened??

What happened in the final episode of Passer By with James Nesbitt? I was gutted that I missed it!!

Don't be - in common with most two-parters, the second half was weaker than the first. Attempting to make James Nesbitt's character sympathetic, the episode found him estranged from his family, sleeping rough at the sation (undisturbed by the Transport Police?!) and taking his own revenge on the snottier or his two macho morons by beating him senseless and then whining at the watching crowd for failing to prevent him from this act of violence. The police, having leaned on the 'victim' pursuaded him against pursuing an assault charge, and Mr Nesbitt's character enjoyed a catharthic weep on his son's lap, folowed by resumption of life as before. Doubtless it was thought that James Nesbitt's overall perceived decency after his role in 'Cold Feet' would rub off on this incarnation as a 'decent' guy who failed to do the right thing. In truth he came out as a whining self-pitying fool who absconded from his professional and personal responsibilities in order to exact a rough justice, and who'se 'system' turned a blind eye in preciesly the way it did to the odious rapists who started the whole thing off. There you go - i wasted my time watching it, so you didn;t have to!
