Empire's Children

Did you see Monday's Empire's Children on channel 4,
if so what did you think of it?
It featured Ex-Coronation Street actress Shobana Gulati and her quest to find out why her parents left India to settle in Oldham, where she was born and raised.
Although her Father attained great success under the British rule in India, working on the railways and then going to universary to qualify as a Doctor, the actress used most of the programme to criticise Britain, even blaming them for the sectarian massacres that took place after the British left. What was apparent was the fact that all the lovely buildings that the British built, including Shobana Gulati's parents house are now in ruins.
Her criticism of the British was bordering close to racism. Although coming from parents that prospered under the Raj and who then choose to accept our unique hospitality and move to Britain, where she was born and also prospered It is apparent that she dislikes the British.
She is not alone in her feelings there are many, many more of Ethnic Minorities who continue to benefit by coming to these shores, but are always ready to bite the hand that feeds them. I would say this to Shobana if she does not like it here, she can well afford to go and live in her parent's homeland.
