Go with Virgin for TV or stay with Sky ?
9 Answers
I am thinking of going to Virgin for TV but I am not sure if Virgin is as good as Sky.
I currently have Sky for TV and I am paying 53.50 a month for a Sky in 2 rooms (multiroom). One is Sky+ box the other is an ordinairy Sky box. I have the full TV package. Cost of Sky is going up soon.
I also have cable in my street (it was Telewest, now Virgin) and I have a landline phone and broadband (4mb) that is costing me 36 a month.
I am tempted to ditch Sky and take TV from Virgin as it will probably work out cheaper overall to get everything from Virgin.
(I cannot get broadband from Sky as it is not available in my area yet)
Anyone got Virgin TV and how does it compare with Sky ?
Is the V+ box any good ?

Broadband ok, phone ok, but TV awful - I've had nothing but problems with the card and no-one at Virgin is that fussed or keen to get it resolved. But hey, just my experience other people might be happy. They also have great deals to start with but prices soon go up..

Personally I wouldn't touch Virgin TV if it's anything like NTL. It became my husbands lifes work to rid our house of NTL Phone TV & broadband! I have a few friends who agree. We got Sky+ & multiroom and it is far far better than NTL, though we didn't have the + box from them so this may have been part of the big difference we seen. Virgin Customer service is a shambles. We are stuck with Virgin broadband still because of a technical problem with our NTL phone number, even though our line and rental was changed to BT because the actual phone number is an old NTL one, no other company can access for a change over. I would stick with SKY but that's just our experience.
unless you're going to save a substantial amount I wouldn't personally - sometimes it's better the devil you know...can you not get a cheaper phone and broadband deal? Sky do broadband - it starts free and then goes up depending on what you want, I think I pay 5 per month for mine and it allows something like 10 hours a day, i've no complaints either.
Have all theee with Virgin and V+ - wouldnt change it for the world.
V+ is better than Sky+ as it has an extra tuner so you can record 2 things and watch another instead of one and watch another with Sky. Never had a problem with the broadband. When I once had a small problem with the phone - it was resolved within 5 mins within a couple of days.
