I'm thinking of getting into fleetwood mac and wondered what would be a good album to start with.

Can I ask why you're thinking of "getting into" the Mac?

I guess a greatest hits package is often the best way.

Try "The Very Best Of..." as a starter as opposed to "Greatest Hits" which has fewer tracks.

You can probably pick up a reasonably priced copy on ebay.

I suppose i always used to think they were a bit "naff" but having heard a few tracks now,especially the weirder stuff,id thought id give them a "bash".!

A 'Best Of' is always a good place to start investigating a band's back catalogue. Otherwise, Rumours (1977) is their best known album.

The first line-up of Fleetwood Mac (pre-Buckingham, Nicks and Christine McVie) was an all-British, all-male, more bluesy affair, so any albums from before about 1970, such as Mr Wonderful or Pious Bird of Good Omen will be rather different in style to their later work.

Probably the most straight-forward album - and one of the top five biggest selling albums ever, is 'Rumours'. Follow that with 'Tango In The Night', and then try 'Tusk' to see just how left-field a so-called AOR band can be when they put their minds to it.

The Dance - Released in 1997 was how I got into The Mac - awesome live gig with the Rumours Line - Up -

But as for a studio album I would agree that Rumours Itself is a good place to start.

stole my parents tango in the night back in the 80's, favorite track tho is by stevie nicks - edge of seventeen

thanks for the tips ive gone against advise and bought a lindsey buckingham solo cd before any fleetwood mac i know im a bit weird !but it was a bargain on ebay!!
