The first RAF raid on a German population was in May 1940 when bomber command attacked the rail yards of Monchengladbach, killing just one person - an English woman.

As shaney says, Aida was killed on 22nd November 1943 when her elephant house at Berlin Zoo was bombed by the allied forces. She was born wild but came into captivity in 1934 and with the help of Omar, had an offspring named Orje at the zoo in 1936. Orje died in 1938 and Aida was alone.
Omar was based at Leipzig zoo, and only visited Berlin along with lots of other zoos - for some nookie. He killed his keeper in 1937 and died in 1957 of unknown causes.
