sky dish to move - how much
4 Answers
I am having new windows put in and need the sky dish moved upwards by a half a metre. Sky want 65 ( even after telling me that I had a extended warrenty and it was free). I apprciate that one may have to pay but not 65. I would rather take Virgin media. Could I do it or maybe a local tv installer - are we allowed to touch it

It sounds like the going rate for an installer to come round and move the dish. Have you tried phoning a few from yellow pages to check their prices?
If you fancy doing it yourself and have suitable ladders there's nothing to stop you from moving it . Just be careful when working at height as those dishes have a wierd centre of gravity and have someone with you to secure the bottom of the ladder.

Note that after the dish is moved it will have to be re-aligned to make sure it is pointing at the Sky satelitte.
If it does not point to the satelitte you will not get any Sky signal.
So you could move it yourself, or get the Window people to move it, but you would still need to get the Sky people in to align the dish.
Also note the bolts that go into the wall are HUGE. If you dont fit it with the correct bolts it could blow off the wall and maybe crash into your new windows, and then you would have a bigger bill.
Get the Sky people in and get it done properly.
