Depends what you are hoping for - what is most important to you. Plasmas are already on the wane and will be phased out quite quickly.

But I am still convinced that the very best picture quality you can buy today is still the old CRT tube, unless you fork out loads of money on a HDtv, a hd box and monthly subscriptions to view the very few hd programmes currently available.

There is nothing to say that HD is going to be the standard - there is a development war with blu-ray and one of the big companies is developing yet another technology.

Unless you need to buy a tv now, wait and see how it all pans out. If you must buy a tv, consider a large CRT tv - they are very cheap now, and you will be in a good position to buy the right thing when the industry has settled down.
ethel surely hd is the only way to go as regards games consoles?
I am going to pick up a perfect 40 inch sony wega crt tv that I got off freecycle, amazed I was!!
