late 1980's or early 1990's channel 4 cartoon

there was a carton i used to watch on channel 4 in the uk in the early 90's or late 80's . it was on between 6 am and 9am on a saturday morning. it had little people or things living inside a man and a women and they use to fight off diseases and other stuff. does anybody have any ideas about what is was called please.

Once Upon A Time.... Life!

Apparently it was a French prog with English dubbing but I don't remember that. I used to love this programme, there was a man with a long white beard and the white blood cells were soldiers....... ah, thos were the days.....
