After all he had done behind her back to all those victims she still loved him and hopes that they can go for a cuddle and a glass of wine in their special place in 20 years time.
It does not seem to have dawned on her that he had a separate life that did not involve her, and moreover was an abhorrent evil and pathetic one which bears no resemblance to a normal loving relationship or a real man. I felt as though I wanted to grab her legs and smack her against the tree to knock some sense in to her before she wastes 20 years waiting for him to blight society again.
The step-daughter had it about right, just wish she could convince her mum. I hope he never gets out and she learns to give up on the evil sadistic, pathetic weasel.

Whats her daughter going to do if he ever gets out, whos side will that stupid woman take. I do feel though that the daughter was letting on she knew but didnt know much at all and was just saying that after the event. But Im glad the neighbour had rang crimewatch. I just dont understand how the wife wants to be reunited, does she really think she would have the same life and even sex life, I couldnt sleep with a man that hade raped all those women and children. I was appauled when she said everyone deserves a second chance, ok how about someone rapes your daughter then see if you forgive them.
What I find most alarming is that she thinks this was a phase and that when he comes out he would be a totally different person and completely in love with her. If this were the case, she would probably find that she no longer liked him if he was different. But the chances of someone who can machinate and commit such acts and be so nonchalant when faced with overwhelming evidence against him to the extent of forcing victims even the 10 year old who was raped and sodomised for several hours to have to give witness in court doesnt really give the impression of reformation or redemption capabilities. Second chance? Only if society is prepared to accept the consequences that he would do the same again.
I agree with you both, I was absolutely appalled at her.
The bit that will stick with me for a long time was when she said that everybody, no matter what they had done, deserves forgiveness ! She came across as completely brainwashed, and it begs the question, would she have forgiven him if he'd have done these horrific things to her daughter ? Thank goodness for the daughter that he didn't ( although I think it was just a matter of time ) but I am inclined to think that even then she would have made excuses for him.
And as for his comment when that bloke said that a 10 year old girl had been raped ( he said that she probably deserved it ) I would have all on stopping myself from knifing him just for saying that.

While I did not see that program I have seen cases in the past where women befriend men in prison, often for very serious crimes.
People like the Yorkshire Ripper get "love letters" and proposals of marriage.
Some women even marry men who are in prison for life or on death row.
Who knows what drives them to want to be with a man like that.
