I was watching " Third Watch " which is shown at around 11am weekdays. On Friday however the climactic shootout was so shortened ( for daytime viewing? ) as to render the ending incomprehensible . Does anyone know if this happens for violent content or Length?

Almost certainly for content. Channel 4 say they don't edit programes for timing. That doesn't necessarily mean it's true, of course.
