ipod playin in itunes

ive got my friends my ipod and i plugged into my laptop i want to play the songs from it but it isnt working can anyone help they come up on itunes but are not playable

do you mean you cannot play them on the ipod or the computer?
If you mean you cannot play them on your PC this will be because you may not have synced the ipod to your PC.
Your friend will have transfered songs from their PC to the ipod from a specific folder on their PC. You will need to sync back from the ipod to the same specified folder on your PC or you will need within itunes to specify which folder you want to sync the ipod to on your PC.
If you mean that you cannot play them on the ipod you will need to make sure that they are on the ipod and have not been deleted. Normally an ipod will usually only work on the PC it was set up with. However you can make this work on your PC as indicated above,
