Torchwood WTF?

Just watched the first episode of the new series of Torchwood. As far as I can tell it's a Sci Fi show about bandit Time travellers. Is this the shape of things to come? Are we going to be subjected to gingers snogging every episode? Pity the general sci fi idea isn't too bad.

Okay so... I think you need to watch the rest of the episodes of the second series and all of the first.
That was one episode, they are called 'Time Agents'. The Time Agency is a secret organisation. It has been in less than 5 episodes of both Doctor Who and Torchwood over the last 44 years that the shows have been on collectively. That epsiode was used to tell us slightly more about the character, Jack, and to make an opening point to the series. The whole show in itself is about a 'secret' group of people tracking down aliens and aline technology on Earth and defending the human race. The character Captain John Hart isn't going to be in every episode and as for the 'gingers snogging' I wouldn't exactly call James Marsters' hair ginger, more auburn. And 'gingers' suggests more than one 'ginger' and John Barromwan DEFINITELY doesn't have red hair. Don't worry, you don't have to be 'subjected' to it every episode, you're say it like you are forced to watch the programme every week anyway. The show has never pretended to be anything else and people are 'warned' before watching it... I suggest you watch a few more and then see how you feel.

I like it. I hate to miss an episode (I'll ignore what R1 Man said ). I think it'll start to get interesting when Rhys joins the team. (Isn't he lovely? I'm surprised he hasn't twigged yet what Gwen's up to!)

I just found out the one half of the 2 blokes snogging near the beginning is a full time up hill gardner so it seems it's a gay show.

it has potential I just don't see why the story needs to punctuated with all the gay stuff. I mean "Jack" even asks one of the other geezers out, completely unconnected to the story.

As a fan of James Marsters (I have a rather expensive statue of him on my mantle, yes I know,but it is as spike standing on a grave in his lonbg dark coat, it is about 10inches high, real classy lol) I suggest that he is rather great, in whatever he does, but especially as Spike of course

Probably more than a touch, but then not all of us want to see blokes kissing. I have a theory the writer is trying to convert us straights. Well listen Russell T, it ain't gonna happen with me, no way, no how!

As I've said before, my problem is not homophobia - man/man; woman/woman; man/ alien - the kissing doesn't bother me in that respect.
What does bother me is that seems to be the main focal point of this series rather than the activities of Torchwood. Yes, I know a little sexual tension makes it interesting but if I wanted to watch a programme all about who fancies/ is snogging/ is cheating on who I'd watch a soap.
What I want from Torchwood is some good old fashioned cheesy sci -fi!
