Top up TV - is it a con?

What is your opinion of Top Up TV? Thought it sounded like a good idea at first but after looking into it I think its just a con. You buy the box and get all of the freeview channels. You then subscribe to the extra channels, but they are only shown at certain times and you get the same couple of programmes on a loop - rip off or what?

spangle, i totally agree with you!!

i subscribed to their service and pay a tenner a month thinking that i will now get more viewing time and choice from the channels that had restricted viewing times etc, but you dont do you?!!

and whats all that about them downloading programmes over night to you??!! what a complete waste of time that is!!
i delete 99% of what they send over as theyre of no interest to me attall.

i was so disappointed and disgruntled that i rang them up.
they didnt say much really, but said that i should put my feelings into writing and send it off to their head office (post not email) and said if enough people complained they might do something about it.

so yes, i agree, its a complete rip off! :o(

I'm so pleased it's not just me who felt cheated, but I was quite naughty - when I realised what a waste of money it was Mr Spangle tried taking it back with no luck because there was nothing wrong with the box.
So I took it to pieces and pulled one of the wires out inside and got a full refund for my faulty box - Result! not altogether honest I know but they started it.................

ive gritted my teeth and just had to accept that i will be paying a tenner a month and put up with it, but i wont be renewing after that.

was it a dtr box you had and returned cus it was 'faulty'?

i love my dtr box , i got it for �50, instead of the normal �100, because i agreed to take put the years subscription.
The box is smashing and love the sky plus feature of it, so im getitng lots of use out of it being able to record loads at the touch of a button instead of scrabbling around for tapes and discs etc!

It was a dtr box but to be honest I never used it to record anything because I never seemed to find the time to watch anything back - I even got rid of the vcr for that reason - it was just sat under the tv doing nothing so for us it was a total waste. The only reason we got it was so that Mr Spangle could watch the football but now he's got an excuse to go to the pub, and I've got peace and quiet so everyones a winner lol ;-)
