Can someone please tell me if the song that goes "say it loud, say it clear for the whole wide world to hear..." is a full length song and who sings it?

you'll also find a version of it on Lighthouse Family Greatest Hits. It's the theme tune to Film 2004 and so goes back a long way. There are loads of very different sounding versions out there.

The best version was Nina Simone who sang it back in the lates 60's as a protest song - it was about the black(?) civil rights movement

Thanks ali_alic I think Nina Simone is brilliant so maybe I shall check her version out too, not really a film buff so didn't realise it was on Film 2004. Thank you everyone for your replies

I think the Mike and the Mechanics song Living Years has a similar chorus too. Could be that.

Apart from Nina's, the best version of this, the theme tune for the BBC "Film" series (when it was presented by Barry Norman), was by the Billy Taylor Trio. It sometimes pops up on samplers such as Round Midnight (Crimson records 1988) and is worth getting. The fact that the Coca-Cola company used the unthreatening second verse just shows how naff they are.

incidently, the lighthouse family did a version of this song but Nina's is much better as you can imagine... voice of the revolution an all that.
