Who is planning to watch the lunar eclipse tonight? It is meant to be 'spectacular' with the moon turning blood red and it apparently won't happen for another seven years.

Are you going to stay up and watch it Red?
i'm staying up - i'm a bit of a night owl anyhow , i just hope we can see something with all the clouds
I propose that this be the official thread for early Thursday morning lunar eclipse observers, if that's acceptable to you Toby?

Of course it is Mibn2. I just hope I can either stay up or get up. It's typically, I didn't go to be until 3:30am this morning as I don't sleep very well, and I am up at 6:30 so tonight I am shattered!!

No clouds here in Cheshire glenis, so I hope they clear for you - what part of the country are you?
7 years?

The next total lunar eclipse visible from the UK will be on December 2st 2010

Azalian - Apparently, it said on the radio today that we won't see one like this in Britain for another 7 years?
It's cloudy here in Cumbria - no chance!!
Question Author
I have just looked out too and it's cloudy now too! May clear later, if not we only have until 2010 to wait, which is better that seven years!

Do you think it will clear - the forcasts were brilliant?
The forecast for most of the UK is for cloud to increase during the night. It is unlikely that the eclipse will be visible from anywhere.
Its not that exciting anyway I watched the last one, which was at a much more civilised hour!

Eclipse of sun more interesting.
In the Times the other day, I think they said the next one wont be until 2029 ... no way Ill get to see that one!
toby i hope you went to bed and stayed there -what a bl##dy disappointment that was , i'm in central london and very misty , a shame really 'cos my house is south facing ,so all i had to do was look out of my bedroom window , i would have had a brilliant view except for the clouds ,on one website i was reading it said you would be able to see the rings of saturn as that will be in perfect alignment

Glenis - I stayed up until 2:30am and looked outside and saw the clouds. Glad now I went to bed!! We will have to do this again in 2010!! Sorry for you though, do you have to be up early too. I'm off to work now, with a strong coffee!
