Corrie yet again
21 Answers
Another vent about Corrie.
What on earth is the reason for Dev still being in Corrie apart from to make silly noises and omit weird little giggles and pull funny faces?!
He seems to be in a lot of the scenes as an onlooker doing only this and has no story lines whatsoever. Has Jimmy Harkinon (can't spell it) lost his marbles and the producers are keeping him in because they feel sorry for him.

Vera's death was wonderfully written and well acted, but their are too many "peripheral" figures at the moment. The bookies, for example. I know they have to be in for the Paul/Jack storyline, but what is going to happen to them when that story has run its course (or will anybody care)?
The main problem, I feel, is the fact it now has 5 episodes a week. Not neccesary. It would lose none of its faithful following if it went back to 3 nights a week, and wouldn't have to drag the storylines out so much.
BTW. Couldn't agree more about Dev.

Three half hour episodes per week would be ideal Iamblue. Corrie seems to have completely lost its sense of direction. It was noted for very good acting and a great mix of storylines, combining humour and good drama. I really miss the old style Corrie - it made for an entertaining and relaxing half hour. Nowadays, although I still watch it if I am about, I don't care if I miss it and there are no storylines that I care about.
Well yes beejaybee, I appreciate that, but they don't give him any storylines do they, which is what Corrie is about.? All the characters either live in the street or have some connection with it, but they also have storylines woven around them.
Dev doesn't seem to play any part whatsoever thesedays except for face pulling and making silly noises. Perhaps they are leading towards a storyline where he is commited into care!

I must admit I am finding it a little boring - Alex storyline going on and on...yet no imput from hospitals etc why this has happened..so makes it all the less real!
I like Dev, like you say his faces, giggles and acting a bit stupid - all make me smile - I never used to like him at all - but I think he adds a little humour into the show.
And David Platt ! well! I think it's Gail who is off her trolley and badly needs some lessons in parenting (my opinion!!)
I am now like the above, if its on and I am about I will watch it other than that it does not matter if I miss a few.

I also think Helen is a good actress but I get an overwhelming feeling of wanting to slap her! when she is dealing with David, I know its "only a programme" and that it is supposed to portray real life - so it's no wonder we have problems with out of control kids if their parents cannot control them or am I being too harsh!!
Mind you David Platt is a good young actor really convincing!
I love Fizz !!

Hi homerbart, yes you are right. They have changed to two episodes on a Friday so that Sunday night can be improved to give us better entertainment (so far, Dancing on ice and Wild at Heart). Like, Iamblue, in the posting above, I don't particularly like two episodes on one evening, and three half hours per week would be just fine.
Alex storyline;
If this had happened in real life, would the hospital, solicitors etc not be involved?
Surely any nutter could come along and say I have the wrong Kid - yours is mine!!
I have often thought it myself when my kids misbehaved especially through their teenage years!!
So Corrie Producers ; either get real or end it!
I love Eileen too!!
