Well my littlest chap is now asleep on the sofa after what has been my worst moment of parenting ever.
This morning I had a gall stone attack at about 6 am. I managed somehow to get J ready for school and asked my neighbour to take him. Once that was out of the way I took some pain killers which included 60mg of codeine. I then appeared to have passed out. A woman I know walked past my house and said that she saw my youngest, Evan, at the window and she waved at him.
Then half an hour later, she sees him running across the road in front of car, having removed the bottom half of his clothing, and heading into the shop on a sweety hunt. She ran over to get him, brought him back to my house but as I was passed out couldnt wake me or get in.
I was subsequently woken by a policewoman, as at first they thought I was dead. I then babbled that I had taken some pills and the tried to explain that it was medication. The police then searched my house whilst I phoned my parents in tears and they left informing me that they would putting a report in.
I cant get over what could have happened, he could have been run over and I would been that awful mum who some people on here show no mercy! and I am dreading a visit from social services. Has anyone got any idea what's going to happen now.

These things do happen, the social arent ogres they will have a word and then perhaps speak to your GP about the medications effects and Im sure thats as far as it will go.
Had you taken more codeine than advised? or was it just a one off occurance that it affected you that way? have a word with your GP in meantime and see if they can change your medication. That way if SS do call, you can show them that you have already made progress to ensure it doesnt happen again.
All the best xx

so your youngest isnt J, he was took to school and your youngest was still there? How old is he? It isnt you fault at all but they will also take into account that he was able to get out of house depending how old he is. As long as you have no other convictions and maybe ask neighbours to give you a character reference I;m sure you will be fine. I'm sure I heard they cannot take children away unless there are called twice in a month I think.
I feel awful and shocked! I spoke to my mum and she has run ins with social services because she is a midwife. She said the police would have asked me to take a drug test if they thought anything untoward was happening and they wouldn't have jut left. SO the plan is to speak to the doctor this afternoon and tell him what happened, re the meds and then speak to the family liason worker at the school and get some advice from her. I just want to seem proactive if I do get a visit.
Thank you for being understanding.
He's nearly 3 and I only have screw locks on the window that he can undo. Its not like I can lock it with a key. Off to screwfix to see what I can lock the windows with this afternoon.

Good Soulette.
YOU WILL BE FINE.
The Police HAVE to put a report in. This happened to me when I was with my then 5 year old a few years ago. I passed out in my garden, around 7 in the evening. A neighbour alerted the police, they came and couldnt wake me up. They reported ME to Social Services. A woman came, I told her what happened and she went away happy.

I agree with redcrx, dont focus on what might have happened, definately speak to the doc about your meds, are you having your gallbladder removed?
like red says , if the social services do visit you can advise them about what happened and what you have done to remedy it. try not to let it worry you, it wont do your gallstones a lot of good!
