This conundrum has been dealt with in several James Bond films: Live & let diet; Diet another day; diets are forever; Tomorrow never diets.
It depends. For people who are at a weight that has a negative effect on their health, then life is too short NOT to diet. This is something I realised for myself a while ago.

However, so many who are actually at a healthy weight for their age and height are always dieting in various ways - for these people, life is too short to spend them being obsessed with diets!
Like Squidgster has said, if you're overweight to the point where it is endangering your health then you obviously have to diet in order to prolong your life.

However nothing drives me more insane than normal sized folks, who insists on knowing the fat grams of everything before they put it in their mouths and refuse certain things because it's unhealthy. Life IS too short for all that malarky- my philosophy, if I want to eat, i'm gonna do!!
A little of what you fancy, won't kill you!!!

You gotta have some pleasures in this life!!

My Mum had a friend who never ate anything fattening, had the occasional glass of sherry at xmas etc and did mild exercise!!
She was skinny from choice!

She died of a stroke at the age of 57!!!
Definately too short to diet.

Plus, I believe that we only get a certain number of heartbeats, and once they are used up, you die. Therefore, exercise is bad for you because it makes your heart beat faster and uses them up. Keep it calm, that's what you want to do!!
