I'm supposed to be getting sky installed on Monday. Originally it was going to just be a standard box but someone is recommending us so we should get a sky + box free. The only problem is we don't have a landline that works just yet. It should be installed sometime next week.
Does this mean there will be a problem with the installation of sky? Is there any way around the problem? We already have the point for our landline but need an engieneer to come out & connect us. Can't sky come and install sky + and then we contact them to let them know when the landline is installed? We don't really want to have to wait for BT to sort it because they're being really unreliable with their appointments.
I am presuming you are not having the broadband as well? As for that you will need the BT line.
The Sky+ will still work and they will leave the BT connection lead behind the box for you to plug in to the BT socket when you get it. The connection is for box office services and other interactive stuff, but generally the Sky+ will work without it.
You can have Sky installed without having a landline but whether they will do this for new customers I don't know.
I have moved twice and both times they installed without me having a phone. I have been a customers for many years though and did have a landline when it was originally done many moons ago!
They won't be forthcoming so your have to try and push for it.
