Question Author
Yeh, I watched the Odyssey a while back too.
It's the second time I've seen it now.
I watched the Minotaur film last week on video. That was really good, and that's why i included it in my list.
The Iliad.Hmm,not sure if i've seen that one.
Has anyone seen Dark Crystal or the Conan films?
Dark Crystal is the one with the elfin muppet creatures.I think it's a bit scary for young children, and I just remembered about the two Conan films with big Arnie.

I agree tigerlily!
Jason and the Argonauts is a truly classic film, complete with Ray Harryhausen's special monster effects.
My favourite battle in the film has to be when Jason and his crew fight Talos the bronze statue.
I love mythological films and LOTR and some of the other films you have mntioned are brill, however I love reading Greek and Roman mythology. My fave reads are about Echo and Narcissus, Aphrodite and Ares, Dionysus, Heracles, Perseus and Andromeda (Clash of the Titans) and loads more.
princess mononkoke, wizard of oz
Does Gladiator not get a mention?
300 is mostly a load of old tosh but it isn't mythological, it actually happened, just with fewer rapes and hunchbacks

Gladiator was sort of based on fact I think. Marcus Aurelius was an emperor and Commodus was his son. Although I'm not too sure about Maximus.
I also liked Gladiator, all the LOTR ones, Beowolf and Grendel, - and Stargate!!! OK - old, I know, but good fun.
Question Author
You're quite right jno about 300,it is actually based on the battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. as the 300 Spartans tried to defend the pass against the might of the Persian army.
But,I thought it was worth mentioning even though it's not quite mythological.
Never heard of Princess Mononkoke mandimoo. Is she in the Wizard of Oz,or is there a film Princess Mononkoke??
Yes,Gladiator is a good film too,and I certainly enjoy reading books about Greek and Roman mythology.
I remember watching the first Stargate movie on the big screen Ice Maiden.I loved it,and I've got the directors cut version on dvd.
